The repeal of the law, along with passage of the War Brides Act in 1946 and the Displaced Persons Act of 1948, and establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 lead to a dramatic increase in Chinese immigration to Boston that includes a 1000% increase of Chinese women in the 1940s.
